Edelweiss Fibres

Edelweiss Fibres is a one-woman show run by Mariette Edelweiss Vosloo out of her garage just outside of Edinburgh, Scotland. Mariette took up dying as a hobby during the 2020 lockdown, but quickly found herself dyeing far more that she could ever hope to knit - or even crochet - up. Thus, Edelweiss Fibres was born to share her love of yarn and yellow with anyone who would listen.

Originally from South Africa, Mariette came to Scotland to study Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. Only love - and perhaps lots of knitwear - could convince her to stay in this perpetually overcast country. Most days you can find her knitting on the sofa, with occasional interruptions to dye more yarn, walk her dog, or do some freelance programming to earn money for more yarn.

All of our colourways are hand dyed in small batches by Mariette using professional acid dyes. Due to the nature of the techniques used to dye the yarn, no two skeins are exactly alike, and colourways may vary a bit from batch to batch. This variation is part of the charm of hand dyed yarns, and adds depth and texture to items made from these yarns.

All of our merino is mulesing free, and our BFL is always 100% British.

We strive to provide yarns that are a joy to use and a luxury to wear.
